The Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust purchased the development rights to the Almy property in January 2003. The property is located on West Main Road, and is comprised of four lots and two right-of-ways. The four lots are shown in the Little Compton Assessors Map Book as Plat 2, Lots 9-3, 9-5, 9-6 and 9-8. The two right of ways are known as Plat 2, Lots 9-4 and 9-7. Each lot is comprised of acreage as listed below:
Plat 2, Lot 9-3: 12.342 acres, Plat 2, Lot 9-5: 10.165 acres, Lot 9-6: 18.094 acres, Lot 9-8:.048 acres,
Lot 9-4: 1.110 acres, Lot 9-7: 1.196 acres.
In January 2003, the Almy family donated the fee simple interest in all of these lots to the Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust. The property is currently leased to Ferolbink Farms and is actively farmed. As part of the Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust’s lease agreement with Ferolbink Farms, farm goods are donated by Ferolbink Farms to the R.I. Food Bank.
On August 7, 2002, the Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust was awarded a Transportation Enhancement Funding Grant. This grant was awarded through the R.I. Department of Transportation and assisted with the rebuilding of the circa 1835-1840 stonewall on the east facing side of the property. The stonewall spans approximately 1,500 feet of the east side, of the property and is visible from West Main Road.
