The Conservation and Recreation Easement purchase of Plat 35, Lots 1-1, 1-2 and 8-1 was part of a larger proposal to protect the Goosewing Beach area. The Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust purchased Conservation and Recreation Easements to these lots on October 6, 1989, from The Nature Conservancy. These lots were previously known as Parcel 1A, 1B and 2A prior to renumbering of the Little Compton Tax Assessors Plan Book. Plat 35, Lot 1-1 consists of 21.6 acres, Lot 1-2 consists of 9.23 acres and 8-1 consists of 6.52 acres. The Conservation and Recreation Easement on each of these properties ensures they are protected in perpetuity and ensures public access to the beach in perpetuity.
The Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust also purchased a Conservation and Recreation Easement to Plat 35, Lot 8-2, from The Nature Conservancy. The purchase was completed on September 28, 1989. Plat 35, Lot 8-2 was a portion of the property owned by the Truesdale Trust, prior to The Nature Conservancy’s purchase of the fee interest in the property. Plat 35, Lot 8-2 is more commonly known as Goosewing Beach. The Conservation and Recreation Easement protects the 75.0 acre property and ensures public access to the beach in perpetuity.
