Wilbour Woods is located on Swamp Road and consists of 85.5 acres of open space including .89 miles of unpaved road and .66 miles of footpaths. The property is open from dawn to dusk, 365 days per year, for the public’s enjoyment. Passive recreation is permitted at Wilbour Woods. The public uses the property for a variety of activities, including walking roads and trails (dogs are allowed), picnicking, cookouts, photography, fishing (trout waters require fishing license), bird watching, and ice skating in the winter. Vehicles may enter the property with care as the roadway is a gravel way, utilized by walkers and bikers.
In June 2019, the Little Compton Town Council appointed a Wilbour Woods Stakeholders Committee, to review the Management Plan for Wilbour Woods. The Committee consists of one member from each of the Town’s boards (Town Council, Fire Department, Police Department, Agricultural Conservancy Trust, Sakonnet Preservation Association, Little Compton Garden Club Conservation Committee, Little Compton Tree Committee, Little Compton Grange).
